Changing the world of Defensive Driving: It starts with you!

Posted on:

‘Tis the season to be jolly but you wouldn’t know that driving on the freeways of any major city in the U.S. It seems like some of us lose our humanity once we turn the ignition to our car. We some how forget about the holiday season mantra, “let there be peace on earth and good will toward men”….and that should also include soccer moms and Republicans… Or Democrats. And that peace on earth concept should extend to the freeways as well.

Did you see the videos that were shot on Black Friday when the doors opened at various retail stores? People were being trampled all because of some holiday sales! It looked like the opening of a The Who concert! (OK, bad comparison) That attitude of “Me first, it’s all about me, I’ll beat you to death for that blue ray disc player” is the same kind of thinking we tend to have behind the wheel. People fighting over a parking space, people shooting other drivers over a finger and lame brains who attach “balls” to the hitch of their trucks! And we are supposed to be the most intelligent animals on earth?!?!

I would like to believe that most people are good and decent at their core, like I said, “most” people, unlike Philadelphia Eagle fans. I would also like to believe that most people when separated from the masses would be willing to lend a helping hand when they see others in need or when they see someone wanting to change lanes they would let them over.

You know what else I’ve come to realize? If I want my world of driving and my world as a whole to be peaceful, it has to start with me. I also came to realize that just because I have tinted windows people can still see me if I pick my nose at the intersection. One of my favorite quotes is from the famous author, Leo Tolstoy: Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”

Have a safe and happy holiday season! Until next week…

Thanksgiving for speeding tickets

Posted on:

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are just around the corner!!!

You know the song;

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

With drunk Uncle Ned

And Cousin Ed coming out of the closet

And saying he’s queer! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!”

Yes, the holidays are here and with that comes the TURKEY, YEAH!!!! I love holiday meals that someone else took the time to cook and I get to reap the rewards! But remember boys and girls, turkey contains an essential amino acid called L-tryptophan that can cause drowsiness more than listening to Uncle Rick’s boring fishing stories. But truth be told, some nerdy scientific experts say that tryptophan would have to be ingested on an empty stomach and with no other amino acids in order to make you sleepy. It’s actually the fat contents of Grandma’s cooking, alcohol and over-eating which makes your fat ass tired.

But this isn’t a lecture on nutritional contents and dysfunctional families; this blog is to inform you on the dangers of fatigue driving in America. Did you know, according to the National Sleep Foundation, over 100,000 auto accidents are the result of fatigued driving in the U.S. every year? I don’t know what’s more surprising, that alarming fact or the fact that “sleep” has its own foundation! Some states such as Texas, New Jersey and Florida have included fatigue driving under their DUI laws. Driving safety experts say that a drowsy driver is just as dangerous as a drunk driver.

Now I can understand if you are ready to get the hell of out of your parent’s house after the holiday meal, because you are reminded of why you wanted to move out in the first place. But make sure you are mentally alert for the drive back to your home, hotel or nearest bar. Besides, after the family get-together, I’m sure you’ll have plenty to talk about on the way home with your other passengers.

I hope you have a safe and happy holiday season. Remember to have a designated driver when drinking alcohol and don’t drive under the influence of fatigue!

Super Human Evolution on Traffic Ticket Dismissal

Posted on:

Have you ever thought about how the traffic situation will look like in the next, oh….let’s say 100 years or even the next one thousand years?? The 101 freeway in Hollywood will still be gridlocked. I’m sure the next 1,000 years, if man hasn’t killed himself off yet, there will be no “traffic situation”, with automobiles anyway.

When we stop destroying “the” not “our” planet with oil spills into the oceans, when we stop killing the ozone with toxic air that we admit from our gasoline powered engines (including lawnmowers) when we have evolved from road rage and watching celebrity reality TV, we will be ready for a more efficient, safe way of travel. I in-vision transportation having nothing to do with a material carrier, we will be able to transport our physical bodies to other places across the plains, to another world and maybe even time. By then we will have obtained enlightenment (and for some people that is a scary thing to have.) We will have learned to live with each other as one living being and share our planet with ALL living things, including conservation Republicans. We will not divide ourselves because of fear, ignorance and the most dangerous, religion.

But you have to “crawl before you can walk.” I have something to add to that:

“You also have to walk and stumble a few times before you can fly.”

Right now in the immediate future we can look at electric cars as the first step in “Super Human Evolution”, the second step would be getting rid of main stream media then the alternative truth becomes main stream. Most electric cars can travel 100 miles on a single charge, I bet some of you ladies wish your electric “GO GO” gadgets could go over a 100 miles! Sorry, I descended into a knuckle dragging male. Energy companies of today could supply the power for the cars of the future. Instead of gas stations, we could have electric stations. Hard to imagine but the spirit of John Lennon would say “It’s easy if you try.”

The “It takes all of us” starts with you and me, if I convert my Jeep to electricity I would be aiding the evolution of human kind and maybe “me girlfriend” would think I’m really cool. The web-site at has information on the sales and conversions to electric cars.

Now a cynical person would ask me if I have converted my Jeep to electricity.

“No but at least I’m looking into it.” Join me again next week and until then,

Defensive Driving Announcement: Pass it on!

Posted on:

Pass this information along to everyone you know.

With the increase of law enforcement agencies using “un-marked” police vehicles to help in fighting the “war on speeding,” it has made it easier for cowards to impersonate police officers. Police have been utilizing this clever tactic of minivans, SUVs and trucks in aiding with the element of surprise when it comes to road rage, drunk drivers as well as speeders. But as a woman or good looking’ dude (who looks like one of the fancy boys on Jersey Shore) be careful, pulling over immediately for an un-marked police car could be the end of your bottom chastity.

Always have a cell phone with you when you drive in case of an emergency. An emergency is not letting everyone know that you are driving on _____ (insert local freeway here) on your Facebook or Twitter but to have in-case you are being pulled over by an unmarked police car or you are involved in an accident or witness an accident.

This article is not meant to scare anyone; chances are very likely you will never be involved in these situations, especially if you look like Nancy Grace but just in-case:

A student of mine told me she was driving on a freeway in Dallas, Texas. A man in a Crown Vic pulled up beside her with a flashing blue light in the dash like Hawaii Five O. The man was waving a badge and motioning her to pull over.

“Something about it didn’t seem right.”

My student pulled her cell phone and called 911. When the predator saw the phone he took off. The 911 operator told her to keep driving; the police are on the way. She said they pulled over the imposter, ran his ID and come to find out he was a registered sex offender!

If an un-marked police car is attempting to pull you over hit your flashers and call 911, don’t pull over immediately! Get a general description of the car and license plate number if you can. Mile markers that correspond closely to an exit number on the highway are there for a reason and know where you are or at least a general idea of which one of the 50 states you’re in.

If you have 10 cars behind you with flashing red and blue lights….and a helicopter with an infrared spotlight on you, then it’s safe to pull over.
